Recently came across some fascinating statistics about a potential source of business that you may be overlooking among all the hooplah of “social marketing” and the latest internet craze.
It was the statistics of the astonishing “reach” achieved that caught my attention…
77% of affluent consumers
75% of women
76% of parents
75% of homeowners
And the medium that has this incredible marketing reach?
The humble community newspaper.
Now, those figures came from a study in Canada, but the numbers are likely to be very similar for Australia (I’m looking into this further to see what stats I can find to confirm that this is the case).
Now as well as the reach, community newspapers have a couple of other advantages…
1) The geographic reach is highly targeted, of course
2) Cost is generally quite low
One other likely advantage…
…most of the ads are pretty poor, so well written copy will stand out and attract a good response.
So, depending on the audience you’re looking to reach, well worth taking a look at community newpapers.
I’m working on a couple of projects at the moment that may involve this medium and I’ll update you on what I discover in future posts.
