Earlier this year I used to post fairly frequent reminders about upcoming events that could form the basis of a promotion or marketing campaign.
I stopped those posts largely because I thought they were becomng a little redundant.
However, I’ve noticed in the rush of events over recent months that I’ve tended to overlook upcoming events and hence miss potential opportunities for myself and clients.
I’m guessing that many readers might find reminders useful as well, so every month I’ll post a brief note about events in the following month.
So, January 2009…
The obvious “theme” is the beginning of the New Year. Everyone is looking ahead and wanting to get things off to a good start.
While most New Year’s Resolutions don’t last much beyond the middle of the month, there’s obvious potential in the personal development arena.
I’ve actually found that right now is a good time to promote personal development products. Sure, Christmas is the main thing on people’s minds but over the holiday period people have time to think about the year ahead and start planning.
In Australia, later in the month on the 26th is “Australia Day”. That’s an unofficial end of the summer holidays and provides an opprtunity for “back to work” and “back to school” themes.
Chinese New Year falls on January 26 in 2009 and it’s the year of the Ox.
I’m not going to claim that I will pick up every possible event around the world. So please feel free to add a comment about noteworthy upcoming events.
